An "Off The Hoox" iPhone

IMG_0113

Perhaps a touch on the geeky side or the "I love myself" level of egotism (is that a word?), but this Off The Hoox image was created by a man far wiser than me when it comes to graphic art. Spoonz, wherever you are now, (ok that just silly cos I know you are in Abu Dhabi just not able to read this), thanks dude.

But now as you can see from that little red sliver in the battery indicator in the top right hand corner, this iPhone is about to die so I must be off.

So long, farewell.

BlogWriter

Just testing the attachment capabilities. Seems there is a work around. Hope so. Only problem is there’s no way to edit the already attached picture. That I will have to do at home. Unless I copy paste and create a new blog entry with the new attachment settings. Hmm. I don’t know. Let’s see.

WordPress app vs BlogWriter

GeoTagged, [N41.32249, W19.81478]

Given the option of any application installed on my iPhone, I would obviously choose the free app over the paid app. However sometimes you get what you pay for when you go free.

I have been using the WordPress app installed from the iPhone app store for any posts while I’m away from my pc. It was working great until I had to reinstall the OS on my iPhone. Now I have to setup the WordPress app again. Now it just doesn’t connect. I checked on some forums and it appears that a few people are having the same problem. Just no known fix. I upgraded to version 2 without success. The app opens and allows you to open the screen to enter blog URL, username and password. Sits on “Verifying Account” for about a minute, then crashes. When I click back into it there is none of the info I entered and it’s prompts to enter it again. I tried all variations of my URLs and username.

Today in desperation I looked at the app store again and found an update to version 2.0 quite cleverly called 2.1. In the details of the update is explains that it fixes the problem of misreading URLs during setup which I figured could be my problem. I upgraded and still the same. I think the problem is the domain mapping I use. If you go to Hoox.wordpress.com or offthehoox.com it goes to the same place. I tried to add other secondary blogs that I own without domain mapping and they connect no problem.

Other people having this problem have mentioned this only occurrs while using the WiFi connection. It connects to their blog without a problem if using the phones 3G connection. I can’t verify this as Albania has never heard of 3G. Ok that might be a lie but I have investigated and no service provider offers a data service.

I am now writing this from a 3rd party paid app called BlogWriter which so far is doing a great job. Even includes an RSS reader not that I use RSSs anyway. Maybe I will start to! The only downside I can see so far is that it only allows you to connect to one blog and although that suits me fine, it may not be suitable for everyone.

That’s it. May my testing continue while I order another cup of coffee! I’m becoming so Albanian! So I hear.

Could this be the winds of change?

I have had a very bleak few days worrying about money and work. Actually the distinct lack of to be precise. All the "think happy thoughts" reminders along with the "be positive" self assurances didn’t help for shit. I became an asshole to be around. Trust me. I’m stuck with me!

This morning I got out of bed feeling a little chirpier and somewhat happier although still in the reality that something has to give and I have to get work soon! I had breakfast and decided to make this day work for me.

I bashed out the emails that I had been sitting on for a few days now. I really just didn’t have it in me to write them over the weekend as they would have come across a bit negative since I’m pretty expressive of my feelings when I write. They had to wait until I was feeling better but they couldn’t wait any longer. Laptop out!

It wasn’t so much the emails that did it. It was the thought process that was triggered while writing them. I started a search and low and behold, today an opening for a perfectly matched position closes for applications. I know it’s perfect cos I wrote it, 18 months ago when I quit my old company. Yup. It’s Africa. Back in the frying pan. That’s if they will even talk to me that is. Here’s hoping.

Is going full circle on something like this considered failure or something else that can be chalked up to great life experience? I like to think the latter.

It’s still early days. I don’t even know they will open my email yet. But now I’m feeling positive. I’m feeling good! I’m having coffee outside watching the world go by.
