I guess it couldn’t all go 100% perfectly. I would have loved it to but on every road trip there is bound to be one or two bumps in the road. This bump was very unfortunately with the brave and daring and courageous KP, the flying majmun from Albania, who came down with a recurring stomach infection which landed her in quite a bit of pain.
Thanks to Butt, on Monday we got a very quick appointment with a great doctor here in Port Elizabeth. He saw us almost immediately and didn’t like the sound of things. Something about “resistant bacteria” and other mumbo jumbo that I didn’t quite understand. He pulled some strings and got us an appointment in a couple of hours with a specialist that usually has a 2 week waiting list.
This specialist also didn’t really like the sound of things and wanted to run tests and do an internal scope thingy so pulled some more speedy strings due to our time constraints and travel plans wanting to hit the road further north to Durban as soon as possible. He made sure we had the first available slot. So much so the receptionist had to move other people to make way for us (her). Yesterday morning our KP was admitted into Greenacres Hospital at 5:45am.
R10, 000 (+- $1000) later for a 4 hour stay in hospital! Criminal!
Of course I was keen on getting some before and after pics cos I know how crappy an operation can be.

5 MINUTES LATER!

Quite obviously she was handling this lack of sleep and everything much better than I was. I was SOOOOOO tired. I kept telling her that even though she had the operation, at least she had a bed to sleep on. All I had was a very uncomfortable couch to wait on.
She really is a brave and strong one isn’t she? GOOD JOB KP!

Today is for chilling and sorting stuff out. Tomorrow we are on the road again!
