Farewell Johannesburg

The time has finally come. Tonight I move to Port Elizabeth. No more smog, no more hectic traffic, no more massive distances to travel to get anywhere, no more good weather! Yeah, that is a downside. The entire coast of South Africa has been beaten with a lot of bad weather lately whereas Johannesburg has had mostly pretty awesome days with wall to wall sunshine.

It has been a long time coming and now I’m ready to go. My furniture (a bed and a desk) was picked up this morning, I have one flight left at Grand Central, and my bags are packed ready to be loaded into my car and to hit the road. Its a long drive but ends with a great destination.

It’s like any move really. You look forward to it until the time finally comes. It has been really awesome to have stayed with my great mate, G. We have a very similar sense of humour and we can just laugh and chat about damn near anything. I will miss that. To all my other Joburg mates too, take it easy, will catch up with you soon. You now have a place to stay when you visit Port Elizabeth. Yeah, in my house that I still haven’t seen yet!

I have had some really good times here. Along with the stress of ground school and everything else that Joburg can throw at you, I have had an all round great time here. It has changed quite a bit from when I last lived here but there’s still a lot of good old memories floating about. Thanks to everyone that made it a pleasant stay.

Next time we chat, I will be in Port Elizabeth. I might be offline for a short time while I get settled in but fear not, I will not be far away.

Viva the bright lights of Port Elizabeth!
