Hoox… That’s not my name!

** Updates below

Errrrr actually it is. I just like this song!

In fact I can remember one day many many years ago I was sitting with my folks and we were having a kewl chat about names and stuff. I asked where they came up with my second name [insert name] and my pops (aka AH) just laughed and he said, “That’s not your real name. We just call you that because your real name was too complicated for you to pronounce and learn how to spell as a child.”

I was mortified. He was joking! 8)

What’s in a name? I know some people with some really crazy names and nicknames. I think it’s kewl.

Here are some nicknames of people I have known that have been referred to as their alternate name so regularly that some people actually don’t even know their real name:

  • Fluffy
  • Twinx
  • Courage
  • Tango
  • Mullac or Skelm
  • Mr Blatt
  • Bone
  • Rowdy
  • Spoonz
  • Bean (runner, jumping, special & magic beans)
  • …. I’m sure I could remember more given the time.

I have had some pretty odd nicknames growing up but have mostly just derived from a combination of my initials and or first name / surname. Hoox, Hooxster, Hookie, Chook (That stuck for a while, mainly with the Australians since in Aus, a chook is a chicken!). Oh and Chrispy Chicken. What’s with the chicken bit?  The one that has stood the test of time and dates back to when I was born is Kiffie. That came about when my brother Tango, 2 years my senior, struggled to pronounce my name and it came out Kiff-ta-fa. Or summing like that. 8)

What’s the craziest, kewlest, oddest names or nicknames you have ever had or heard?
