Over the last few days my brakes have been making an unkewl scratching noise. That awful spine chilling noise that is there just to remind you that you are about to spend a bit of money on vehicle maintenance.
I took the car in today to have a look and as I thought, brake pads were toast! It was all over for them. This was kind of to be expected so it didn’t come as too much of a hit. What was a hit was finding out that all four tyres also need replacing and so does my entire clutch system which combined is going to cost me another R4600.
Next time I hear a scratchy noise I’m just going to pull the female maneuver and simply turn up the volume… noise goes away! It’s cheaper that way!

Jeez. But I suppose you don’t ever, EVER want to screw around with bad brakes.
s_20 - Hahaha. I hear you mate, which is why I got them replaced no question. Only thing is then the great salesman says, “You know the brakes are only half the stopping power. Bad tyres will get you killed just as quick!” How do you argue that? Hahahaha. Wham another R2600! That’s next weeks problem. The clutch can die a slow death…
Sorry to hear the bad news. It’s times like these that make you think that ex-pat life has some good points.
I can’t remember my last car bill, but it must have been early 2004.
Oh, the joy of a maintenance free life and no depreciation either.

WG - I hear you man. All this paying out is killing me. Especially without an income! It hurts man!
i take it this is the vehicle you just bought a few months ago..
did you
1. when viewing the vehicle - not consider looking at anything other than the car seats you were going to place said arse on or the gaping hole where to put your stereo in when you bought the music thingie you later bought.
2. not detect all the grinding and zulu warrior smoke signals coming from the wheels during the test drive.
3. suspect there was a break related problem when you kept knocking into pedestrians flattening them after engaging breaks at road junctions.
4. not hear the grinding building up because you spent 5 x value of car on your hi fi and you play it very loud to justify the purchase.
or
5. (then i will leave you alone and stop laughing)
not consider taking it back to the dealers and asking them why it was not put on the road properly with all these problems…..or are they all bigger than you.
and since you are now a pilot why do you need a car - do you not just fly everywhere now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh - and by the way - hello mate hope you are well. SAFE DRIVING.
