Make a meal of it

When everything seems to be getting a bit much you can always rely on food to make it better.

My day started relatively early with a call from AH (aka Pops) asking for some details in order to complete a favour I had previously asked of him. Thanks Pops! With that started a flurry of activity.

Upon completion of the usual S, S & S, I buried my head in my laptop and caught up on all my emails. After a quick chat with one or two people that snipered me online, I was dressed and out the door.

No day should start without all the goodness and nutrition that you can only get from a…

STEERS BURGER! The breakfast of champions.

Steers

While eating I was clockwatching as I had to hit the bank as early as possible to avoid lengthy queues to get my necessary paperwork sorted out. When I finally got to the front of the line I was told that I had to go to my branch which is on the other side of town. To hell with that. I made some calls and was asked very politely to wait 20 minutes while my details were retrieved. No problem as this gave me time for a…

LATTE! With real milk!

I hadn’t even finished my coffee when I got a call back from my branch telling me to go and try again and if there’s any problem they will raise hell and get it sorted, which they did. Nice work FNB Rosebank! Thank you!

The rest of the morning was spent running from shop to shop, from pillar to post. Every once in a while I stopped in at home to make sure the DIY guy that G arranged to put up some blinds and mirrors etc had everything he needed. Last stop before lunch time was Woolworths so why not pick up a nice Woolies meal.

SALMON WITH WHITE WINE!

Fortunately my afternoon was a little less hectic. Other than the odd phone call and quick trip to the shops, I spent most of the time screaming at my laptop cos it got infected with a virus while I was trying to install something. Where’s a good IT bloke when you need one? Now I wish I hadn’t sold all my knowledge. That $50 didn’t get me that far anyway.

Yesterday plans were made to join G’s folks for dinner tonight but I had completely forgotten. G was good enough to excuse me as I am now really tired and have a headache of note. I never knew being on holiday could be this tiring. I’m sure this wont go on forever. I had plans to go to Cape Town on Wednesday night but that has been torpedoed which now gives me more time to breath and get things done before Thailand.

Since I never ended up going for a nice home cooked meal tonight I figured the next best thing was in order…

RIBS AND RED WINE!

Ribs

Now that’s what I call a day’s dining fit for a King or Queen or even a slightly more humble Knight or Knightess. God it’s good to be home where great things are at your fingertips! The next time anyone wants to bitch about South Africa, tell them to try a couple of countries a little higher up in Africa. One quickly learns appreciation!

One more glass and I’m going to hit the sack!

Hic. Goodnight
