It’s time (again)

24 02 2008

Today is the 1st day of the rest of my life. The rest of my new life. My life back in Africa. Today I fly to Angola.

I was previously supposed to go to Houston for 3 - 4 weeks. Of course that all changed. As I said before, the only thing that remains constant with these people is the rate of change. So all that said, I should now be in Angola for 3 weeks, then passing through South Africa briefly on my way to Houston for 3 - 4 weeks than back to Angola.

My flight schedule so far is as follows:

London - Lisbon - Luanda
Luanda - Johannesburg - Washington DC - Houston
Houston - Paris - Luanda

I’m really glad that I can sleep on planes. The beauty is that most of it is business class and I am cranking up those airmiles!

It is going to be tough for me to write consistently as I have no idea what the internet connectivity is going to be like out there. Well that’s kinda why I’m going out there, to set up the internet.

Now I have to get my ass into gear as I have 2 hours before the taxi arrives to whisk me away to Heathrow airport.

This is what I dreamed of. This is what I wished and worked damn hard for. I am going to make sure that it is going to be all that it’s cracked up to be.

See you in Africa…

Safe journey and welcome home (well at least it’s the same continent). Apologies, again, for not getting down to London for a meet. Maybe, you can visit Egypt?

Good for you - I hear Angola is “up and coming” (no, really). Good luck out there. But watch out in Houston - it’s full of Texans.

And sheesh, youir itinerary looks morbid - thank god for business class.

WG - Thank you Pal. Good to hear you got back safely. That’s ok mate, I will see you in Egypt. I know you will be excited to hear this: I turned LEFT the whole way here. My tickets cost damn near £11, 000. Thank goodness for company credit cards!

AH - Thank you pops. Perhaps you can plan a Johannesburg in there? Will let you know closer to the time. EVERYTHING CHANGES!

Lou - Im trying! Im trying!! 8) But since you can see this, it seems Im succeeding! Can’t keep a good man offline! Can’t keep me offline for long either!

ExA - It’s great to be “home”. I am however looking forward to the rodeo in Houston. Yeehhaaaaaa!!! About as much fun as you can have with your boots on! PS. you are right, Angola is having loads of infrastructure work done on it. I guess the people may start seeing some of the riches of the land. We can only hope!

Melaz - Thank you sweetie. Thanks for everything. I am just getting started and it seems time will pass fast. This one will feel like a quick 5 days! 8) Please stay in touch. It’s good having you around

Hoox,

Congratulations to you on your new found status. There is a down-side, though, personal flights will now be a little more expensive. Once you get used to turning left, cattle class becomes unacceptable.

WG - It’s not really a new found status. It’s short lived just while I’m out on business trips. When I mobilise I get to join the cattle at the back. :-( Its ok though, I am very used to it!

Well I’m still proud of you. There’s nothing to beat sailing above the clouds with a glass of bubbly and a very attentive hostess or two. But I have to confess that I’ve recently aquired a taste for port and cheese when I fly (mmmmm…. very nice).
