Inundated

Thank you for the few concerned emails. I am around and I am still writing. It’s just my time and “creative genius” (tongue in cheek) have been compromised lately by the sheer amount of work I have to do. It’s handover time and for all of you out there that have ever had to do a handover you will know what I mean and you will know what I am going through right now. Wake up 5:30am. In the office at 6:15am (one of the perks of living in a camp 20 meters from your desk). Leave the office at 10:00pm.

Above and beyond your normal day to day activities, you now also have to document every activity you have ever done, every paper you have ever signed, every deal you ever brokered and worst of all, answer the multitude of questions from the new guy.

The clients don’t care. Sure, let me drop everything and work on YOUR shit

It kinda feels like this:

paperwork

Which if you know me at all, you will know that this is completely impossible since I am in I.T. and we don’t have even close to that amount of actual physical paperwork. The thing is, this wouldn’t really have the same effect I need for you to feel sorry for me now would it?:

laptop

But the good news through all of this is that I actually have the opportunity to have a handover. That means that my departure is just around the corner. It kind of makes it easier thinking that at least it is the means to that final end and goal achieved. Grin and bare it for the next couple of weeks. It’s almost over.

I have to smile though. I look back on every other job or project I have joined and I cannot recall one single time I have EVER received a handover. “Hoox, go jump in the fire, sort the unknown problems out and let us know if you need help. We’ll be down at the local pub”. I guess that shows a bit of faith?

Sorry, got to dash. Virtual paperwork calls! Can someone please get me a cup of tea?

You’re right…the first picture looks much more impressive.

Good luck with the handover. Are you giving away all your tricks to the newcomer or are you leaving some things as a little mystery? Never mind, don’t answer that…

Some virtual tea coming right up. Keep an eye on your in box and don’t let it get “cold”!

Well. I have a virtual solution to your problem my dear. Why don’t you come to Tirana and have a cup of tea outdoors, almost 18-20 degrees C. I know your a lazy b… but as Eric Cartmen would say “it is all worthit” That’s what i did all day today. Had lunch with girls outside, nicely planned the weekend activities, did not let any phone call disturb me unless my boss was calling and had a ready solution for all handover and current work-related issues…Next week/Monday…. Just couldn’t keep myself locked in the office….
