… broken chariot!”
The time is near. The showdown, that has been rightly hyped up and discussed in almost every corner of England and South Africa, is right around the corner. Kickoff tomorrow (Saturday 20 Oct) at 2100hrs local (France) time. The grand finale of the 2007 Rugby World Cup. South Africa VS England! The Aussies and Kiwis are now claiming rugby union isn’t really their game and have taken up supporting the International Badminton World Championships.

I’m sure non-rugby fans must be so sick of the banter but I honestly don’t give a damn. We have to live through that stupid game football (soccer) all year round so suck it up people and just support your country for the sake of supporting your country!

Not being in the UK I have missed most of the abuse thankfully. South African mates of mine still on Mud Island and living the life in the Big Smog, repeatedly tell me how unbearable it has been. “The poms just don’t shut the F**K UP”. Has it been the same in South Africa? Are we abusing the poms to the fullest extent humanly possible? If not, WHY NOT?
What all the fuss is about!
The Web Ellis Trophy
The problem with all this banter is inevitably one team not only loses, but that loss also smashes a HUGE amount of egg in the face of the the loud mouth banterer. Fortunately that wont be us huh?
I am not about to start predicting any result of the game. Naturally I want South Africa to smash the St George out of England (thanks for the passport by the way) but both sides have a lot to prove and both with come out fighting to the max. It’s going to be one hell of a game.
I would give my left nut to be in SA for the party tomorrow night!
May the best South Africans win!
COME ON BOKKKEEEEEE!!!
The demise of the (sweet) chariot @ kickoff

Chris,
Obviously your time in USA has had a big impact on you. Please note that only the American’s refer to the beautiful game as soccer. Everywhere else on the planet (well the civilised countries) calls it FOOTBALL.
Regardless, you are a feloow Bok and we should show a united front when faced with the English hype. I mean how can a team that gets 1 decent result in the tournament expect to be considered favourites (according to BBC they are the bookies favourites).
As Kevin Keegan famously said “I will love it if they get beat!”.
Nuff said, get intae them…..

Errr WG - Please don’t be that blinkered mate. South Africa calls it soccer along with most of the rest of Africa. Most places in Asia Pacific too. I think you will find that its only really Europe and some of South America that call it football.
ANYWAYS.
All that aside. We have no time to bicker over semantics. We have bigger things to worry about and that is to take care of the English tomorrow. The world stands united against England. Now THATS what I call support!
