Some say winter is a bad thing. Snow, icy weather, long nights and short days. All I hear lately is complaints about how cold it is, how miserable it is, how everyone loves and misses summer. That’s right, I’m in the northern hemisphere right now.
Look I agree it’s a little more than just a bit nippy right now. It is getting super cold up here and don’t get me wrong, I am a summer lover too! Who could not love this?:

Some are calling it a conspiracy. I might have added my few cents to it to fuel it but it could also be a very big coincidence.
Yesterday while in Tirana we got two punctures. Exactly the same place on the wheel (just off the tread on the side wall). Only it was different wheels. One front and one back. Both punctures happened in the same general vicinity (the hotel parking lot). They happened 5 hours apart. Fortunately the vehicle we were driving had two spares.
Coincidence? Perhaps just jinxed!
This delayed us substantially during the day so we battled to get things done on time. This meant leaving Tirana after dark to head up the mountain roads. It was bad. Half way we ran into really bad fog. I could hardly see 5 meters in front of me. This is not a good place to be when you are traveling on really hectic treacherous mountain roads with 200 meter drop-offs.
Anyway, we got back safe and sound so all is well that ends well.
Not completely true. It’s not nighttime yet but it will be soon. And I’m not sure how live it will be cos all I want is a chilled night having a klomp pomp with my girls, Pauline and her younger sisters, on the bar counter at the Irish tonight. Ok, that could become lively! You are all very welcome to join!
So dear people all over this wonderful planet, so long, sayonara, have a great weekend. I intend doing the same.
On the road at 4pm and only back on Monday. NICE! A lie-in in a comfortable hotel bed and good food available with a selection of cuisine to choose from!

So it’s Friday. What does that mean for me right now?
I could just stay here and plan my escape. The permanent escape. Not the escape that only lasts until Sunday night. The real deal!
Ah yeah. THATS what I can do. Book my tickets to South Africa. That will make me smile! I like booking tickets to South Africa! How on earth do I route from Albania to SA?
I will let you know when I have it figured. I feel my wallet is going to take a serious hit now!
Bean,
I officially and graciously accept your very kind invitation to the wedlock celebration of you and yours! RSVP? HELL YEAH! I wouldn’t miss it for anything in the world!
It made it. It made it! The invitation. I don’t know how long it took to get to me out here in BFN* but I don’t care, it’s here and it’s beautiful. The Albanians don’t understand why you included a dress code message of “Smart Casual – Shoes optional”. I had a good laugh explaining! Trying to explain. I gave up.
Babes I cannot wait. I am so excited for you sweetheart! Also I’m soon to have a “Brother-In-Law-I-Never-Had”
VIP tickets to the big day

All this talk about global warming (bring on 2010) but a natural occurrence brings on yet another argument of proof that I feel is fairly persuasive against global warming.
This aint warming. I’m freezing my frikkin bollocks off out here. I cannot wait until I am back on the African continent. Soon. Very soon. I hope!
Santa’s Runway
There are counter theories about global warming and if us silly little homo-sapiens really had anything to do with it. The world lives. The world breaths. The world goes through cycles. One place we visited in Arizona (far inland USA by the way) has proof that the ocean had been there at least 3 times. Some say the increased temperatures are simply a stage in one monumental few million years cycle. Here’s further proof:

I’m just looking forward to 2010! COMMANDO!
Stoo, our director of security on the project, is pleased to advise the hiring of the new camp security manager. He had to be disguised to protect his identity since his work is going to be mainly undercover operations.
Agent [Codename] Balloo’s primary role will be taking care of the simple bear necessities.
Please all give him a cheery welcome, a back rub and perhaps a good old bear hug to welcome him into our delightful little community.
