We had planned to go and see the Grand Canyon so we woke up early, got prepped with camera and other goodies for the little day trip and called DubDub at the predetermined time, 9am. When we called him he said, “Wow you guys are really keen” which I didn’t understand and so he then went on to explain that Arizona didn’t observe daylight savings time. Doh it was only 8am! We could have slept another hour. AArrrgghhh!! You know how I love my sleep. Anyways, I was up now and that gave me a chance to write on my blog about previous adventures.
At the real 9am we were off to pick DubDub up. In the car and off to the Grand Canyon. Another long drive and we eventually got there. It really is quite odd. I figured with it being such a big thing that you would see it far away. Nope. Other than a few “small” holes in teh ground there really is no evidence of the upcoming gigantic super deep and incredibly long crack in the earth. You pay your way in and walk down to a lookout tower (we were at the east entrance) and not until you actually get right to the edge do you see it at all. I think that’s what adds to the anticipation and awe when you finally do look over. You really do lose your breath. There is no way of really explaining how magnificent it is. It is absolutely <Insert a really kewl word that describes the monumental size of it all>.
