Now I am very confused!
I had to get some data off my MacBook hard drive this morning so I powered the little guy up for the first time in a long time and started searching for the info. I had previously set OffTheHoox as a bookmark so I thought, “What the hell. Let me just check if the WordPress.com Turkey block has been lifted”. Well shiver me timbers! IT WORKED! I’m in! After you lot were trying to understand how pissed I was at the block, reverse that and now try and imagine how happy I was that it has all been rectified!
I came into the office (my Mac is in my room) and I fired up my faithful IBM T43 laptop and excitedly navigated to my blog only to be blocked again! NOOOOOooooo!!! I was thinking, “How come is it that they lifted the ban for what was perhaps only a few hours?” Now try and imagine how confused I was.
I had to go back to my room about an hour later so I clicked on the link on my Mac again. Hey presto, my site came up. I navigated all over WordPress.com just to make sure. I looked at other Wordpress sites and even went into my “dashboard*” and everything seemed fine. Now I am even more confused. Happy but confused.

I took my Mac into the office just to settle this once and for all. I sat the Mac next to the IBM (with enough of a separation that they couldn’t fight) and checked the links simultaneously. Well I’ll be damned! OffTheHoox is blocked on the IBM and fully available on the Mac. How on earth is that possible??? How can a Mac connected in exactly the same way to the internet, going through the all the same links, hops, routers and service providers in Istanbul, Turkey, get through and pull the required HTML code through and no other PC on this entire network can?
I would REALLY appreciate some technical input on this if it is available. Oh, and by technical input I don’t mean for the Mac lovers out there to simply say “PC’s are sh!t”… even if I do agree (just don’t tell the people who pay me to do Microsoft support).
Thanks.
~Hoox
