The reason I’m blind (blocked)

A huge thanks to “Lou @ 123 Blog Myself” for finding out the inside scoop on the whole deal. Seems someone did piss off someone in Turkey and then in turn pissed this chap’s lawyer off enough who in turn pissed ME and a lot of other people OFF by getting the whole WordPress.com domain banned in Turkey.

I like the way it ends referencing the Turkish community and getting their views on it before just acting on it and starting to ban people because of an enthusiastic lawyer. The thing is with the internet, these people can start up any site anywhere and these guys would have a tough time keeping up and banning the world.

Saying that however, I do agree that some control get put on the bastards who generate all the hate speech inciting violence upon the innocent. I say lift the ban by deleting the blogs in that person’s* name but that’s only because I have a bias view based on my block too!

It’s a tough call. But I still agree with freedom of speech!

* I will not reference “that person” as I don’t want my blog affiliated with him

Transmitting Blind

Thanks to the many replies and responses via email and MSN, I understand that apparently I can still post to my blog which is a relief. The only problem now is that I cannot see my own posts which is ok for 2 reasons.

  • I know what I have written
  • I get bored reading what I have written anyway so I don’t. 8)

It sux for 2 reasons too.

  • I cannot administer anything. The admin page (dashboard) is also blocked.
  • I cannot see any of the other WordPress blogs that I love to read. I am NOT ignoring you people!

So until this gets sorted out or I move away from WordPress.com to a server/domain that is not banned by the Turkish government, I will have to continue to post blind. Fortunately with RSS feeds I will still be able to see comments.

Try and imagine how pissed I still am at this whole bullshit. Nothing like my (or all of WordPress’) freedom of speech being infringed. So for all you foreign people in the Western World that bitch about the Western World, just remember, if you weren’t IN the Western World you wouldn’t be able to say shit!

Kevin’s Arbitrary Thoughts

Now for those who do know him or have read his blog, you will appreciate this. Just the other day I was going through some music and moving stuff around and happened upon an old album “Hooray for Boobies – Bloodhound Gang” and selected the entire album to play.

I almost pissed my pants laughing when I heard this wonderful work of art kick in at track #1 and immediately thought of Mr Cadman and his phenomenal ways conceived for people to meet their demise. (DIAF)
