C’Mon South Africa!

13 05 2007

What a day it was yesterday for SA rugby:

Thanks again to Pops (Another Hook) for the regular updates.

Semi-finals
12 May Sharks v Blues 15.00 Durban 34-18
12 May Bulls v Crusaders 17.30 Pretoria 27-12

Whoooo Hoooooo. This means that next week it will be an All South African final!

Sharks VS Bulls

Natal Sharks #1 on the leader board - Home Ground Advantage. There’s going to be a shark attack! Durban is going to ROCK!

It’s just such a pity now that the sulking Aussies and Kiwis will be declaring, “Oh it’s only the Super 14. We don’t care too much about rugby union anyway”.

Deviation

13 05 2007

Who needs plans when it’s so easy to create a deviation?

Yesterday was great. We left very late for Reps. Actually only got on the road at about 12pm. We didn’t even make it 20 minutes out of town before we thought a lunch at the supermarket “QTU” would be a good idea.

1 hour up the road we stopped at our regular coffee point in the village of Rubik. It was a great day. Sun was shining. We happened to stay there a little longer than planned as people we knew were stopping off in both directions on the road. It was good.

We finally got to Reps at about 5pm (not bad for a 2.5 hour drive).

I got all my satellite and video conferencing testing done in a couple of hours and it was time to leave. The sun was setting fast and you don’t want to be stuck on these roads after dark.

Now the big question was. Home or away? Do we go to Tirana or stay away somewhere else? To hell with Tirana. A deviation from the norm was required! We are staying in Shkoder (pronounced and sometimes spelled Shkodra). One hour later and we pulled into the parking lot of the nicest hotel I have seen in this country. The Europa Grand Hotel. Very shmarmy for a simple €60 per night.

We were met by “Arj” (Stoo’s sidekick) and others that knew town well so we joined them for dinner and a few drinks. It was a good evening although very quiet. No one seems to go out here. Got into bed at around 3am after sipping Vodka in the roof bar of the hotel. Very pleasant.

Its 10am and I have only just woken up. I thought what the hell, and to my lazy-ass cheap-ass delight I found they have free wireless internet here. What more can an IT geek ask for? I could probably do my job from right here in my bed. Which is exactly what I plan to do. Actually, no, I’m going back to sleep!
